Too Consistent?

Posted by: bootman

One component that any General Manager in the league can only dream of, is some form of positive consistency from a team. Whether it be having a certain division consistently dominate, or it may be letting the overall match come down to one division that can consistently get at least as many points as it takes to clinch a match despite their personal overall record. In this article bootman talks about how consistency effected teams this season in the CGS, from 3D.NY to the Los Angeles compLexity, but the main focus is on one of the most consistent teams in the league, the Dallas Venom. Was their consistency something positive to look at where it gave them a ride to a shot at the World Finals? Or was it maybe something that would smite them when it mattered in the big matches at the end of the season? Come inside and check out what bootman has to say about this topic.

OPTX Over Venom;Venom Out

Posted by: bootman

After the most anticipated match of the night, the OPTX managed to edge out the Venom with a close win that ended with the OPTX Counter-Strike: Source team winning the match in the second half. The match started with a very close 4-3 race in the OPTX favor, this then set up a FIFA match where Barmoa was set up to tie the franchise match. With a goal in the first half, Barmoa was in a very good position. Barmoa had some other shots on goal, which he couldn't turn into pay dirt, yet managed to upset stermy with a 1-0 victory. Next up was Dead or Alive Male where Master had his shot at revenge over NinjaCW. The current DoA 4 Male world champion was up to a 3-0 lead over NinjaCW when all of a sudden he lost 3 rounds straight. Master then closed out the match with amazing style and flare ending it with a final score of 5-3. It was now time for Phoenix to go for her third straight win against Vanessa but, to the dismay of many Venom fans, couldn't quite complete the victory. It all came down to Counter-Strike: Source and everyone felt extremely good about the new individual World Champions facing one of the bottom tier Source teams to win the franchise match. However, things didn't go as planned. The Venom had a strong first half winning it 6-3, but just couldn't pull it together in the second half. With some phenomenal play from San Francisco's new player paradox, they were able to win the half 8-1 to defeat the Venom after the Venom were on an amazing 12 game winning streak. It was a great season Dallas and a huge turn around from last season. Now it's time to work hard in the off-season for an even better 2009 run.

Master and Venom.css World Champs!

Posted by: bootman

After a long day at the individual World Final, the dust has settled and both Venom representatives came out victorious. Master was on his way to a flawless season, but fell short at the very end and also lost his two playoff matches putting him on a 3 game losing streak. Today Master came in to represent North America a play against the best of the best in the World, and he dominated all the way through. His first task was a new star to Wuhan, kindfox, and Master welcomed him into the Championship Gaming series with a huge 5-1 win. He then was put up against Mexico City's El Divino XMas, who has beaten Master in the passed. Master continued his dominance in the final, only dropping one round after going up to a quick 4-0 game point. It was then up to Dallas Venom's Source squad to prove that North America is the best in the game, and they did just that. People were a little bit worried about Venom having to play de_inferno in the first round, but they looked absolutely amazing against rio winning the first half 5-4 and the second half 8-1 in a huge blowout. It was then in the finals where the Venom were truly put to the test as many think that the Salvo have the strongest team in the world. After a very slow start in the first half, the Venom were down 5-0 before they came back with four straight rounds to end the half once again 5-4. The second half came around, and the Venom took no break as they came out storming through the first few rounds. Salvo then answered back with two quick rounds, but the Venom shined and won the remaining five to win the match overall 11-7. Congratulations to Master and the Source team! Carry the wins into the World Finals next week!
